Engrave a whole country or state

Search for a country, state or province. It is framed with its neighbours round it, then cut as flat sheets like a carved atlas: the water with its depth contours and seas named, the land round it, and the place itself on top with its states, towns, main roads, deserts and ranges engraved. Far-off parts such as Alaska get boxes of their own.

Name label
On the plaque, wherever you put it: drag it on the preview, or its corner to resize it. Names and lines move out of its way.
Up to four lines. Also names the sheets and the files.
Engraving
The states or provinces as thin lines, each named on its own land, and the neighbouring countries named round it.
100
The largest first and largest set, the capital starred; a few of the neighbours' main cities too. Free space limits them as well.
Named in spaced italic as on an atlas, level, ranges along their length (Great Sandy Desert, Nullarbor Plain…).
Few
Highways as fine lines across the place. Fewest keeps only a country's main routes (the USA's Interstates); fewer leaves out the highways crowding a dense motorway grid and short city spurs; more adds every trunk road and, closer in, the primaries.
The tropics, the equator and the polar circles as dashed lines across the plaque, named, where they cross it.
The larger lakes cut through, so the water sheet shows; smaller ones engraved as outlines, and salt lakes (Lake Eyre) engraved solid.
Parts too far away to frame (Alaska, Hawaii, the Canaries) in boxes of their own in an empty corner, at their own scale.
Water
Lines on the water at round depths, each with its depth beside it, as on a carved chart. The water sheet is cut only when the frame has a sea or lake.
4
Contour depths
Round depths as printed on sea charts (20, 200, 1,000, 4,000 m…), closer together near the coast.
